Biomedical engineering’s Robert Kirsch earns prestigious accolade from the Department of Veterans Affairs

Robert Kirsch, chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, executive director of the Cleveland FES Center and the Allen H. and Constance T. Ford Professor, recently received the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Paul B. Magnuson Award for Outstanding Achievement in Rehabilitation Research and Development. The award is the highest honor for rehabilitation investigators. 

Kirsch received the award at the VA headquarters in Washington, D.C. during a ceremony hosted by Department of Veterans Affairs Deputy Secretary Paul R. Lawrence. 

Kirsch’s research centers on using functional electrical stimulation to restore movement to veterans who have experienced spinal cord injuries or neurological conditions.
